Our Environmental Policy

At Pasture Cottage, we are committed to providing a good quality service whilst minimising the environmental impact of our activities.

A symbol of this commitment is our membership of the Green Tourism Business Scheme. (Pasture Cottage presently holds the Silver Award). The scheme provides accreditation and encouragement for tourism businesses to reduce the environmental impact of their activities. By encouraging sustainable practices, the scheme ensures the continued enjoyment of the environment around us for future generations.

Some of the main steps we have taken to reduce our impact are:

Green Tourism Business Scheme - Silver Award

  1. Composting garden waste.
  2. Recycling glass, cans and paper.
  3. Use of environmentally friendly washing powder/conditioner and washing up liquid (provided).
  4. Use of recycled paper products.
  5. No smoking policy in Pasture Cottage/The Garden Room.
  6. Supporting local farmers, artists and retailers.
  7. Walkers and Cyclists welcome – information on local walks, cycle trails, nature reserves provided.
  8. Care of local wildlife.
  9. At Pasture Cottage we encourage guests to SWOON – “switch off one (light) now”!!
